Different types of trees found by me: Atlantic White Cedar: This tree is typically found in swamps rooted on shore. It can be found from Maine to Florida and sometimes in Mississippi. This tree is typically 50-90 feet tall and 12-24 inches in diameter. The bark typically is scaly at base and easily breakable. (bark shown on right) American Elm: A rapid growing tree species, American Elms may be 50 feet tall in only 20 years. At maturity, they can reach heights of 150 feet feet; although the current United States National Champion measures 111 feet. The leaves of Ulmus americana are thick, glossy, double-toothed, and change from yellowish when young to dark green when mature. The bark is grey, deeply furrowed, and may be somewhat flaky. |
